5 Ways to Get Rid of Dark Circles Under Your Eyes

Posted by Jill Rossini on

There’s nothing worse than waking up, glancing in the mirror, and discovering those dark circles under your eyes. It always seems to happen at the worst possible time. And unfortunately, fretting about it doesn’t make them go away…Well we’ve found 5 ways to combat those dark circles to keep us looking fresh-faced and as youthful as ever.

The top 5 ways to ditch dark circles:

1. Get Some Sleep!
There’s nothing more natural than sleep itself. Hence the saying ‘beauty sleep. Getting up to 9 hours of shut-eye a night, greatly lessens the chance of waking up to dark circles. Not only does sleep serve to de-stress and prevent fine lines and crows feet,  it also helps the skin around the eyes to rejuvenate and maintain a more plump and full appearance.

2. Use Concealer
The perfect cover-up. Even though it won’t get rid of the dark circles persay, it will hide them for the day and make it seem as if you’ve had a full restful night’s sleep! Fake it till you make it happen! We recommend NARS concealer for the perfect coverage. Or, use your own personal favorite brand of concealer, make sure it matches your skin tone or is a shade lighter.
Top Tip: Use sparingly to prevent your skin from looking cracked and dry, even pair with a moisturizer to create a more dewey glow.

3. Give Yourself The Spa Treatment
The amazing powers of cucumber slices is not a myth! They contain properties which reduce puffiness and refresh the appearance of skin. Lay a slice over each eye to eliminate dark circles in less than fifteen minutes, perfect for a quick fix when you’re in a rush! If you don’t have any cucumber on hand, slice up some potato and get the same effect. Uh…yeah!

4. Treat Your Skin
Get your hands on an eye cream, preferably one containing vitamin K and retinol. The dark under eye circles are often caused by a deficiency in vitamin K.
Even if you are not short of vitamin K, the combination of vitamin K and retinol works to reduce puffiness and discoloration, leaving your skin around eyes looking ageless and refreshed.

5. Clean Up Your Diet

Doctors reckon that under eye dark circles are mostly caused by poor diet and dehydration. With that in mind, a great way to avoid dark circles is to make sure you’re eating plenty of fruit and vegetables, and drinking enough water! It might sound simple, but the results can be amazing.
